Pet Note: Most Pensacola area beaches do not allow pets on the sand. Pensacola Beach has two designated dog beach areas on Santa Rosa Island. In summer, the heat can be hard on pets, so check conditions before bringing them.

Pensacola Beach
Pensacola Beach is the area’s most popular beach. It has wide Gulf views, restaurants, nightlife, and public access points. It is a good place to start if you want a classic Pensacola beach day with plenty nearby.

Santa Rosa Island (Gay Beach)
This area of Santa Rosa Island has long been known as a local LGBTQ+ beach spot. It is about 12 minutes east of Pensacola Beach by car and has a more open feel. Bring what you need for the day, since restrooms, food, and shops are not close by.

Navarre Beach
Navarre Beach sits east of Pensacola Beach and is known for a more relaxed beach feel. It has public parking, restrooms, pavilions, the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier, and access to marine park areas. It is a good choice for a beach day with public access, useful amenities, and room to spread out.

Johnson Beach
Johnson Beach is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore on Perdido Key. It offers protected shoreline, Gulf views, beach access, restrooms, pavilions, parking, and boardwalk areas. It is a good choice if you want a more natural day with fewer commerical distractions nearby. An entrance fee is required, and parking is limited to designated areas.
